Blackbutt and Benarkin Lions brought the curtain down on their week of Christmas activities on Saturday night with a “food fair” at Blackbutt Showgrounds.

Food vans and Lions Club members offered tasty food to appreciative locals who could soak up the festive atmosphere while they were having tea.

The popular Sempf Sisters played Christmas carols as well as a mix of old favourites on stage.

The licensed bar was also doing a good trade, while the children enjoyed the opportunity to get their photo with Santa.

The food fair followed the Blackbutt Lions’ Arts & Crafts Christmas Fair which ran of Friday night and most of Saturday.

The Arts & Craft Fair had been scheduled to be held in Les Muller Park but was moved to the showgrounds when a thunderstorm looked likely.

It has been a busy week for the Blackbutt and Benarkin Lions who launched the 16th annual Blackbutt Community Christmas Festival last Sunday (December 4).

They also hosted a community lunch during the week, the two-day Arts & Crafts fair and then the Food Fair.
