It’s something we should be asking every day, but on one day every a year the question becomes more insistent … RU OK?

RU OK? Day was marked in Kingaroy and Nanango on Thursday with free breakfasts, free coffees and lots of yellow balloons and wristbands.

In Kingaroy, support workers from various agencies and Queensland Health chatted with members of the public as they enjoyed brekkie prepared by Kingaroy Lions.

In Nanango, people gathered at Supa IGA Nanango to enjoy a sausage sizzle, cooked with skill by volunteers from the Nanango SES.

Supa IGA donated the sausages, bread, onions and sauce; $219.45 was also raised from donations that will be forwarded to RU OK?

As well, cafes in both towns served up free coffees in the distinctive RU OK? yellow coffee cups.

The aim of RU OK? Day is to “start a conversation”, and maybe – just maybe – save the life of someone.

That’s why there is an emphasis on coffee … sharing a cuppa together is a great way to have a friendly chat.
