Marie and John Clayton, from Samford, brought along their beautifully restored 1956 Chevvy to last year’s Raising Hell In Maidenwell … it’s on again this weekend

Maidenwell is getting ready for a bit of hellraising this weekend … and a lot of people are looking forward to it.

The annual three day Raising Hell in Maidenwell camp out weekend will be held at the Maidenwell Sportsgrounds.

Raising Hell provides a great opportunity for car lovers to show off their best rides, and it draws car enthusiasts from all over south-east Queensland.

According to organisers, advance site bookings for this year’s get-together are the best they’ve ever been, so they’re hoping for a bumper turn-out.

Raising Hell is being held from July 1-3 at the Maidenwell Sportsgrounds, but Saturday (July 2) is the main day for the public.

There’ll be hot rods, customs, classics and vintage caravans aplenty, plus live music and lots of fun.

The weekend will be officially launched on Friday night with a $10 per head Rock & Roll Dance at the Maidenwell Hall, with entertainment provided by the South Burnett’s very own Elvis (aka Jeff Hancox).

On Saturday, activities will kick off at 8:00am for Show & Shine exhibitors, and at 9:00am for the public.

There’ll also be food stalls, raffles, engine blow-ups and market stalls, along with a free jumping castle, face painting and a colouring competition for the kiddies.

This will be followed in the evening with a pig-on-a-spit dinner at the Maidenwell Hotel, an auction, and live entertainment.

And on Sunday, the Maidenwell Markets will be running next to the Sportsgrounds between 8:00am and noon if you’re in the mood for fresh local produce or a bargain.

Raising Hell in Maidenwell is run by the South Burnett Gas Guzzlers, and raises funds to support local charities.
