Petrol heads seemed to be having a devilishly good time at the annual “Raising Hell In Maidenwell” car show at the weekend.

Saturday was the public day of the three-day rally at the Maidenwell sportsground which is organised by the South Burnett Gas Guzzlers Rods and Customs club.

The oval was filled with hot rods and street machines, and even a few classic cars tossed in for good measure.

Everything from a Willys ute street machine to a meticulously restored Studebaker Hawk.

Some of the vehicles had a “rock’n’roll” 50s theme,  which was echoed in the classic caravans that also dotted the grounds.

Car enthusiasts come from all over south-east Queensland for the weekend, which includes live music and events at the Maidenwell Hotel.

On Sunday morning, participants took part in a “mystery cruise” around the South Burnett.

Wayne Streeting, from Kingaroy, with his 1939 Willys ute; Wayne has spent seven years – and about $15,000 – doing up the highly modified street machine, which he only registered last week
Geoff Davies, from Petrie, with his left-hand-drive Fairlane 500; he imported the rare sports coupe, which is running a 302 Windsor, from San Diego in 2009

Steven Normington, from Loganlea, with his 1970 XW Falcon GT

Storm Williams, 13, Memerambi, thought the HR Rear Cut Couch raffle prize was pretty cool
