A 36-year-old Kingaroy man looks set to forfeit his vehicle after he was pulled over for speeding on the D’Aguilar Highway near Coolabunia on Tuesday morning.

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank said police would allege the man was doing 115km/h in the 100km/h zone at 7:30am.

However, police checks then revealed the man was a repeat unlicensed driver.

He was arrested, charged with unlicensed driving and bailed to appear court. He was also given a ticket for speeding.

Police impounded his 2002 Toyota stationwagon which could be subject to forfeiture after court proceedings are finalised.

A 55-year-old Kingaroy man has been charged with drink-driving after being stopped by police in Knight Street, Kingaroy, at 4:00pm on Sunday.

He allegedly recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.105, more than double the legal limit.

A driver stopped by police in Somerset Street, Kingaroy, at 8:00am on Monday morning was allegedly another repeat unlicensed driver.

Police issued the 30-year-old Kingaroy man with a notice to appear in court and impounded his vehicle for seven days by confiscating his number plates.

A 36-year-old Cherbourg man wanted on a return-to-prison warrant was arrested by Kingaroy police at 1:30am on Wednesday in Memorial Park.

Snr Sgt Frank warned racegoers heading to Burrandowan Races at the weekend that police will be out on force on the roads to catch any drink drivers.

He said people should make responsible traffic decisions, such as catching the bus to the racetrack or arranging a designated driver.

Snr Sgt Frank also urged drivers to take extra care on the gravel sections of the road.

He said drink drivers ran the risk of having their vehicles impounded.

Since the start of the year, 18 people have been charged with drug-driving in Kingaroy alone.

The latest incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when a 37-year-old Kingaroy man was pulled over by police in Haly Street and allegedly tested positive at a roadside drug test.

Snr Sgt Frank said the majority of the positive drug tests had occurred in the Kingaroy CBD. He said tests had been carried out in the morning, in the early afternoon and at night.

“Drug testing will continue and it’s not just on a part-time basis or on weekends,” he said.

Snr Sgt Frank said the majority of the offenders were in the 30-40 age bracket.
