Members of the Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club reflected on their first full season of competition at their Christmas break-up on Sunday.

Club secretary Tracey Tunstall said the highlight was hosting the 125cc junior championship recently in Kingaroy.

“The nominations were great; to get 16 nominations was really good,” she said.

“The meet was also really good but it was a shame that we got the storm.”

She said the Kingaroy Bees would apply to host the 125cc championship again next year, and might also try for the 250cc category.

The Christmas break-up barbie was held at club vice-president Col Rogerson’s South Burnett Motorcycle Rider Training complex, just outside Kingaroy.

Tracey said it was an opportunity to say thank you to all the parents, friends and volunteers who had helped the club.

However, it was also an opportunity for club members to congratulate Tracey, who was presented with the Motorcycling Queensland Volunteer of the Year Award at a function in Brisbane on Friday night.

Also nominated for an award was club member Keynan Rew who was nominated for the Speedway Junior Rider of the Year title.
