South Burnett residents have the chance to hear one of Australia’s most dynamic councillors, Ipswich Mayor Cr Paul Pisasale, speak at the Mayor’s Community Charity Breakfast on Friday (August 21).

Mayor Pisasale was elected to council to in 1991 and became Mayor in 2004.

South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said he had invited Mayor Pisasale to speak at this week’s charity breakfast to inspire local businesses.

“Mayor Pisasale helped turn Ipswich from what was perceived to be Brisbane’s poor second cousin into a vibrant, internationally successful city in its own right,” Mayor Kratzmann said.

“I think it would be vital for anyone with an interest in business or tourism in the South Burnett to be there to hear what he has to say. He’s a very inspirational man, and our regions have a lot in common.”

Funds raised from the Mayor’s Community Charity Breakfast will go towards the Mayor’s Community Benefit Fund, which is again open for applications.

Previous beneficiaries include Graham House Community Centre’s Warm For Winter project, which provided needy South Burnett families with beds, mattresses and blankets, and The South Burnett Pantry.

This round, the Mayor’s Community Benefit Fund is open to organisations which aid children and families in the South Burnett. Guidelines are available on Council’s website or via the Customer Centre on (07) 4189-9100. Applications close on August 31, 2015.
