The South Burnett Regional Council will soon be operating transfer stations at the Brigooda and Cloyna Waste Facilities.

From June 15, local residents will place their waste into skip bins at the newly constructed waste transfer stations instead of into a land trench.

These transfer stations have been established as part of the Council’s commitment to providing long-term waste management solutions for residents, as outlined in the Council’s Waste Management Plan.

“The new transfer stations will provide a clean and safe way for residents to dispose of their household waste,” Waste portfolio holder Cr Ros Heit said.

Opening hours and the types of waste that can be left at the Brigooda and Cloyna Waste facilities remain the same.

Commercial, industrial and bulk waste cannot be left at either of the facilities.

Similar waste transfer stations are expected to become operational at Durong and Hivesville within the next few weeks.

The waste transfer station upgrades are being funded through a $500,000 loan from Queensland Treasury drawn down in April this year as part of the Council’s 2014-2015 borrowing program.
