The South Burnett Regional Council announced the appointment of a new CEO this morning.

SBRC Finance General Manager Gary Wall, who has been filling the role since the departure of former CEO Ken McLoughlin in November, was announced as the new CEO at 9:15am.

Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said the Council had received 46 applications for the position.

A selection panel comprising himself, Deputy CEO Keith Campbell and Cr Deb Palmer, assisted by Council’s Human Relations Manager Greg Lewis and Macarthur Recruiting, had then short-listed six applicants.

The short-listed candidates were all interviewed in Brisbane on Monday, February 16.

Following each interview, each candidate’s answers to questions were reviewed by the panel and scored.

“At the conclusion to this process the panel agreed … Mr Wall had the proven skills and experience best suited for this role,” the Mayor said.

“He has demonstrated confidence, skills and experience well suited to the role of Chief Executive Officer … and an in-depth understanding of the goals, vision and mission set for the Council.

“He is well-respected by the elected members, staff and community, and it was noted that staff had responded very positively to him acting in the role of CEO.”

The Mayor said the decision to appoint Mr Wall had been unanimous.

  1. Congratulations to the new CEO. I hope that he made his own arrangements to travel to Brisbane for the interview and didn’t tag along with the other SBRC personnel.
