Local councils today received their third quarterly payment from the Federal Government’s Financial Assistance Grant program.

Federal Member for Wide Bay, Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss, said the funding was “untied” which meant councils were free to spend it according to local priorities, including for infrastructure, health, recreation, environment, employment and roads projects.

Local councils will receive the following quarterly payment:

  • Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council – $138,167 (from the annual allocation of $552,669)
  • Gympie Regional Council – $1,306,618 (annual $5,226,472)
  • South Burnett Regional Council – $1,775,924 (annual $7,103,699)
  • Toowoomba Regional Council – $4,072,388 (annual $16,289,555)
