To help local residents budget in the lead-up to Christmas, the South Burnett Regional Council has extended its discount period for the latest rates notices.

To receive the discount, residents must now pay their rates in full before 4:30pm on Tuesday, December 16.

The original due date was Friday, December 5.

The date that Council issues its rates notices, and the due date, varies from year to year.

In 2012-13, the second quarter rates were issued on November 6 and were payable by December 7.

In 2013-14, they were issued on November 14 and were payable by December 5.

This financial year they were issued on November 3.

Rates can be paid in person at Council’s Customer Service Centres in Blackbutt, Kingaroy, Murgon, Nanango, Proston and Wondai.

EFTPOS facilities are available at all Council Customer Service Centres.

Rates can also be paid by post, BPAY, POSTbillpay, via Australia Post branches, or by telephone or internet.

Credit card payments can also be made over the phone via Post BPAY on 13-18-16.

  1. Good to hear. It will be even harder if the council brings it back to half yearly. Everyone would be really struggling.
