A bunch of happy community group representatives after Wednesday’s morning tea

October 24, 2014

More than two dozen South Burnett community groups went home happy after a combined morning tea in Kingaroy on Wednesday where they received cheques from a number of schemes.

Cheques from the South Burnett Regional Council were handed over to representatives from nine groups who receive regular annual grants from council but who were not able to make it to the recent Community Assistance Grants night at Kingaroy Town Hall.

Another dozen Council cheques were handed to groups for special one-off projects.

Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said the Council support had a “domino” effect.

“We help you and your organisations help the community,” he said.

Round 3 of the Mayor’s Community Benefit Fund – monies raised at various charity events throughout the year – were also also distributed by chair Cheryl Dalton.

Cheryl said the last two rounds had concentrated on mental health initiatives and were targeted at groups who could deliver “real results on the ground”.
