South Burnett mayor Wayne Kratzmann has been elected to fill a vacant spot on the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) Policy Executive.

Nominations for the vacancy, caused by the resignation of Gympie mayor Ron Dyne because of illness, closed on Friday.

Mayor Kratzmann will represent District 3 on the Policy Executive, which covers the Wide Bay Burnett area (ie Bundaberg, Fraser Coast, Gympie, North Burnett and South Burnett).

He told southburnett.com.au it meant the South Burnett would have another voice promoting its interests outside the area.

The LGAQ is the peak body for local government in Queensland.

Mayor Kratzmann is also Deputy Chairman of the Wide Bay Burnett Regional Organisation of Councils (WBBROC), the umbrella body that represents the six councils in the Wide Bay area: Bundaberg, Cherbourg, Fraser Coast, Gympie, North Burnett and South Burnett.

  1. People can only guess that this will increase the chances of Cr Tessmann getting his inane wish with the LGAQ to consider adopting suggested changes to the complaint handling process.

  2. So its OK for criminal motorcycle gangs to be able to associate together in order to sell drugs to students but ‘insane’ to ask for a fair hearing in Local Government hearings?
