South Burnett Regional Council says a Telstra fault at the local exchange is to blame for problems residents have been having for two days when trying to telephone council.

A Council spokesman said Telstra was working on the fault.

“Council has been following up on the issue urgently with Telstra and will re-issue advice when services return to normal,” the spokesman said.

“Council thanks the community for their patience as we try to resolve this issue.”

Earlier, the SBRC invited residents to contact them via their Facebook page or by email

UPDATE 2:15pm: Council has notified that its phone system has been restored.
