Several South Burnett councillors recently inspected the work that has been done in the Scott Car Park in Henry Street, Nanango, and were pleased to hear a number of positive comments from the public, especially about the new shade sails.
Ms Jocelyn Battaglene, from Nanango, told Cr Barry Green she loves the new car park.
“It’s awesome, so much cooler for the groceries and the oldies love it because it is safer walking on the paths than behind cars,” she said.
Ms Maria Torrigue agreed: “I love it. There are a lot more parking bays clearly marked and the car keeps so much cooler.”
Cr Green said he was also delighted with the car park.
“More people are parking off the streets and once the new lights are installed in a few weeks it will be so much safer too for late night shopping.” he said.
Cr Green said he was also pleased with the way the streetscaping was progressing.
“It’s not finished yet but the traffic lights will be operational soon and the Drayton Bridge is nearly ready and more trees are to be planted in the streets,” he said.
The trees were suggested by well-known horticulturist and ABC Gardening talkback expert Penny McKinlay.
“I’m hoping she will come up and have a look once they are established,” Cr Green said.
“I’ve waited a long time for this streetscape and it’s great to see it coming to fruition. I’m looking forward to seeing it finished. I’m sure the residents will love the end result.”
