Time is running out for South Burnett residents to get their Australia Day nominations in.
South Burnett Regional Council is calling for nominations for the region’s annual Australia Day Awards for 2014.
The awards acknowledge and reward outstanding groups or individuals for their contribution to improving the South Burnett.
This year the regional awards ceremony will be held on the eve of Australia Day – Saturday, January 25 – at the Wondai Town Hall.
“The Australia Day Awards are an excellent opportunity to recognise the work done by members of the South Burnett. We have so many people in the region who volunteer their time to help others,” Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said.
Award categories are for:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Community Organisation of the Year
- Lifetime Achievement Award
- Volunteer of the Year
- Cultural Award (Junior)
- Cultural Award (Senior)
- Local Achievement Award (Town & Rural)
- Junior Sportsperson of the Year
- Senior Sportsperson of the Year
- Sportsperson of the Year (Coach/Official or Administrator)

NB. Nominations for Toowoomba Regional Council’s Australia Day awards have already closed (October 31).
Gympie Regional Council nominations are open until 5:00pm on Monday, December 9. Nomination forms are available online, via council offices, libraries and the regional gallery or by Gympie Regional Council on 1300-307-800.
