South Burnett Regional Council was presented with an excellence award at the recent Local Government Association of Queensland annual conference in Cairns, recognising its risk management skills.
Council’s Coordinator of Risk Management and Internal Audit, Joy Manalo, accepted the Local Government Mutual Queensland Risk Management Excellence Award pn behalf of council.
“Council nominated Joy for this award due to the effective implementation of an Enterprise Risk Management Program,” Manager of Governance Sharon Frank said.
“We were honoured that the Board of Management of LGM Queensland presented the award at the conference before leaders of the Local Government sector from across Queensland.”
As part of the winner’s prize, Council will be able to send a delegate to next year’s National Local Government Risk Management Conference in Sydney. All travel, accommodation and conference registration costs will be met by Jardine Lloyd Thomson (JLT), who sponsored the award.
“It is an honour for the South Burnett to be recognised through the Risk Management Excellence Awards,” Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said.
“I was very pleased to be in attendance when Joy Manalo received this award. Congratulations to her and those who assisted Joy in implementing Council’s Risk Management Program.
“The purpose of the awards was to recognise risk management as an integral part of management structure and to promote awareness of risk management issues and innovation in risk reduction.
“It is a credit for Joy and the South Burnett Regional Council to have this recognition.”
