The Big Screen Film Festival will be returning to the South Burnett next year after securing funding through the State Government’s “Screen Culture” program.

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said the funding was a big boost to the region as the Big Screen Film Festival had become a popular annual event.

“The Big Screen Film Festival, which celebrated its seventh year in Nanango this year, is a fantastic event, which always attracts large crowds,” she said.

“This year the whole event ran over four days and included film screenings for school groups and the general public, fundraisers, and film workshops.

“The guest star was Magda Szubanski, one of Australia’s most loved and respected actors, and the Red Carpet opening night attracted more than 200 people.

“It’s exciting to know that in 2014 we can anticipate yet another Big Screen event and I think everyone will be wondering who the next film star will be to visit the South Burnett.”

Arts Minister Ian Walker said the Screen Culture funding allowed the State Government to extend the reach of film throughout the State and provide access to the arts for all Queenslanders.
