A free sausage sizzle will be held in Kingaroy next Thursday to help launch “Resilience Week”.
The breakfast will be hosted by the South Burnett Regional Council and various flood recovery agencies.
“Our region is susceptible to fire, floods and storms over the summer months,” Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said.
“At the breakfast there will be Get Ready for Summer Season information and packs for people to take home and make necessary arrangements to ensure their safety.”
The Resilience Week launch will be from 6:00am to 9:00am on Thursday, Oetober 17, next to Raine & Horne in Haly Street, Kingaroy.
CROW-FM will also be doing a live broadcast from the breakfast.
“There will also be practical demonstrations from the SES, Rural Fire Brigade and local Ambulance so residents can learn how to be safe,” SBRC Community and Cultural Services Co-ordinator Michael Hunter said.
“We will also have representatives from the flood recovery agencies to help anyone who hasn’t yet applied for flood recovery assistance.
“Alan Broome, the South Burnett’s Rural Financial Councillor and Damien O’Sullivan who is the South Burnett representative for the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry will both be in attendance to help our primary producers with information.”
There’ll also be information available from AgForce, the Burnett Mary Regional Group, QRAA, Centrelink, Medicare Local, Healthy Communities, BIEDO, Centacare and Uniting Care.
