At Yarraman, the Ladies club played the second semi-final of their championship triples on Wednesday.

Robyn Diercke and Lorrie Holmes teamed with skip Ivy Wrembreck to take out the contest against Kay Dugdell, Glenda Wolski and Gloria Anderson 21-17.

It looked like being a whitewash early with Ivy’s team, winning eight of the first twelve ends and leading 19-6. Gloria’s team fought back well – took the mat – and won eight of the remaining nine ends – but lost two on the last end going down 21-17.

Well done both teams – you kept the gallery watching intently.

While the triples were being played, there were two rinks of social triples.

Eunice Smith, Horst Meyer and Neil Johnson defeated Margaret Willoughby, Eileen Elliott and John Moore 26-15.

Katie Anderson, Ron Lucas and Di Currell 28 defeated Jenny Moore, Alison Anderson and Brian Dugdell 28-11.

Night bowls was Thursday of last week. With some of the regulars away on holidays, only two rinks were played. There were trophies:  Winning team – Tom Clarke and John Moore 12 defeated Kerry Wyvill and Brian Dugdell 8; Runners-up – Alison Anderson, Arthur Smith, Neil Johnston 15 defeated Marge Clarke, Eunice Smith, George Wolski 5.

PS. Yarraman are buying their greenkeeper John Moore a new mower and a roller with grant just announced. No excuses now for a slow green!

Peranga hosted their annual Rose Bowl on Thursday and Hazel tells me that it was a great day for Yarraman players.

I know it was a great day for all players – a beautiful green. But it was a sad day for Peranga Ladies. It was their last official meet as the Ladies Club is folding due declining membership.

Winners and Grinners for the day – Gloria Anderson, Neil Currell, Robyn Diercke and Jenny Moore.

Runner- up were a composite team skipped by Doreen Fitch. Her team included Rob Borey, Sid Cook and Barbara Glass.

The Encouragement award went to another Yarraman team skipped by Ivy Wrembreck. Her team included Di Currell, Eunice Smith and Yvonne Schultz.

Don’t forget the Memorial Day for Tuppy Gscheidle on Saturday, October 26. It is a fundraiser for CareFlight who do a marvellous job flying patients to urgent medical treatment.
