The South Burnett Regional Council is giving Murgon Town Hall a facelift.

Following its recent listing on the Queensland Heritage Register, the hall is being painted in heritage colours.

“We are getting a lot of feedback from the community, particularly about the way the new colours make the hall stand out,” Cr Kathy Duff said.

“The way all the individual features of the building are being highlighted is fantastic.

“Council has also reallocated some additional funds to enable painting of Heritage-listed commercial shops and the clock tower at the same time.”

The hall and adjoining commercial shop precinct were designed by Brisbane architect Clifford Ernest Plant and constructed in 1938 by Maryborough builder HG Neilsen. They were Heritage-listed last month.

Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said he was impressed with the paintwork so far and believed once it was completed the entire precinct would become a “must-see” for visitors to the South Burnett.
