The final make-up of the new South Burnett Regional Council has now been finalised with the official declaration this afternoon of Barry Green as winner of Division 1 (Nanango).

After preferences were distributed, Barry was about 120 votes ahead of his nearest rival, Steve Jeffery.

Sandy Towell was third, with Mark Ladyman a distant fourth.

Barry admitted to southburnett.com.au that the last few days had been “a little bit nerve-wracking” but he was now looking forward to getting back to work.

He said the new Council would be very busy and it would be interesting working with the new Mayor, Wayne Kratzmann.

“He will no doubt have a new slant on things,” he said.

UPDATE May 9: The Returning Officer has advised that the final figures for Division 1, after the distribution of preferences, were Barry Green 1049 votes, Steve Jeffery 924 votes.
