Biggest Morning Tea - Cooyar
Cooyar will be holding one of Australia's Biggest Morning Teas at Cooyar Hall on the New England Highway in the heart of town from 9:30am this morning to help raise funds for the Queensland Cancer Council. In addition to a great morning tea - and no-one really does a great morning tea quite like Cooyar - there'll be a tombola, raffles and stalls, along with a lucky door prize. Angel Knitters & Crocheters
The Angel Knitters And Crocheters Group will be holding their monthly meeting at the Kingaroy Senior Citizens Centre at the corner of Kingaroy and Avoca Streets (opposite IGA) from 9:00am to noon this morning. Group members use their time and talents to donate handmade items to charities, and they meet on the 4th Thursday of each month from February to November. New members are always welcome. Free Movie Night - Goomeri
The Goomeri Pumpkin Festival will be holding a Movie Night at the Hall of Memory in Boonara Street, Goomeri, screening “Basmati Blues” (rated PG) from 6:30pm to 8:30pm this evening as part of the newly expanded 4-day Festival. The movie tells the story of a young scientist sent to India to sell genetically modified rice, who has a change of heart when she finds the project will destroy the farmers she was supposedly sent to help and teams up with them to defeat it. The film scored ratings of 8 to 59 on Rotten Tomatoes (ie critics regard it as a total turkey but most audiences enjoy its over-the-top Bollywood antics), so put pessimism aside and put on your dancing shoes! Everyone is welcome, admission is free, and the Pumpkin Festival will be supplying light snacks (guests are also welcome to BYO).
Indoor Bowls - Goomeri
Indoor bowls games will be held at the Goomeri Hall of Memory in Boonara Street, Goomeri from 2:00pm to 5:00pm this afternoon as part of this year's expanded Pumpkin Festival. The games are free, and food and drinks will be available for purchase at the Hall's bar.
Business XL - Wondai
The South Burnett Regional Council will be holding a Business XL networking event at the Wondai Diggers Club in Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 5:30pm to 7:30pm this evening. The event will feature displays and guest speakers from local businesses and the unveiling of BIEDO's South Burnett Business Builders program. Social Golf - Blackbutt
The Blackbutt Golf Club at 51 Langton Road, Blackbutt will be running their weekly Sporters's Club game at 3:00pm this afternoon. Tai Chi Classes - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Arthritis & Osteoporosis Support Group will be running Tai Chi classes at the Uniting Church Hall in Alford Street, Kingaroy this morning. An intermediate class will run from 9:00am to 10:00am, followed by a beginners class from 10:15am to 11:15am. The classes aim to help relieve pain and improve quality of life, relieve stress, sharpen concentration, and improve balance, posture and mobility. Class fees are $3 for each attendance plus a $20 fee to Arthritis Queensland for insurance. Everyone is welcome. More details? The class caters to all levels from beginners to advanced, all in a fun and social atmosphere lead by a qualified dance instructor. St Joseph's Parish Hall in Angel Avenue, Murgon will be hosting bingo games from 7:30pm this evening. There'll be $1000 in prizes on offer as well as a canteen and lucky bingo tickets. Proceeds will go to aid St Joseph's school and community works.
Wesleyan Food Hampers - Nanango
Wesleyan Grace Community Food Hampers will be available at 36 Fitzroy Street, Nanango from 9:00am to 12:00 noon today. Food hampers are available for a modest price to people facing financial difficulties.
Alcoholics Anonymous - Kingaroy
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. A.A. isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution.
