Mayor's Community Charity Breakfast - Nanango
- The first Mayor's Community Charity Breakfast for 2015 will be held at the Nanango RSL: in Henry Street, Nanango from 6:45am to around 8:30am this morning (breakfast will be served at 7:00am sharp). All proceeds from these regular Charity Breakfasts are donated to the Mayor's Community Benefit Fund, which gives grants to worthwhile South Burnett causes such as mental health programs, the South Burnett Pantry, junior sports and similar local good causes. Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington will be the keynote speaker at this morning's get-together and tickets are $25 per head. Everyone is welcome, and if you'd like to attend you should RSVP to Bronwyn Barry on (07) 4189-9155 by Thursday, March 12.
Goomeri Reunion Dinner
- Here's something different! A special dinner to launch tomorrow's 75th annual Goomeri Show and to celebrate the 90th birthday of the Goomeri Show Society will be held at the new Goomeri Show Pavilion from 6:00pm until late tonight. The two-course dinner is open to anyone who's ever had any association with the Goomeri Show Society or the town of Goomeri itself. Tickets are just $25 per head and there'll be a licensed bar, but to assist with planning the catering, they need to be pre-puchased. They can be obtained by phoning Tricia on (0419) 720-407.
Blue Light Skating - Nanango
- The Nanango Blue Light Disco committee will be holding a Family Skating Night at the Nanango Skating Rink in George Street, Nanango from 6:00pm to 9:00pm tonight. A canteen will be operating and admission is $5, which includes skate hire. More details? Phone Nanango Police on (07) 4163-1211.
Friday Night Sax - Wondai
- The South Burnett's very own "Sultan Of Sax" Tom McKenzie will be playing at the Wondai Hotel & Cellars in Haly Street, Wondai from 6:00pm until late tonight. Greet, Eat & Meet - Yarraman
- A "Greet, Meet & Eat" social function will be held at St Philip's Anglican Church Hall in Millar Street, Yarraman from 10:00am until around 1:00pm today. The group was formed in May 2012 to provide a safe place where locals from Yaraman, Blackbutt and Cooyar could get together, enjoy each other's company and meet others in a low-cost way, and it's met on the third Friday of each month ever since (except for December and January). Today's meeting will kick off at 10:00am with a cuppa and will be followed by a three-course lunch at 12:00 noon. Friday Morning Bingo - Kingaroy
- The Endeavour Foundation will be running bingo games at Kingaroy RSL from 10:00am this morning (eyes down at 10:30am). There'll be four jackpots on offer, along with book games and raffles, and proceeds will go to help people with an intellectual disability. Everyone is welcome. More details? Coverty Creek Social Club Meeting
- The Coverty Creek Comunity Development and Social Club will be holding its regular Friday night social gathering at the Red Shed at 198 Coverty Road, Coverty from 5:00pm until around 10:00pm tonight. Country Music Night - Nanango
- An informal Country Music Night will be held at the Uniting Church Hall in Gipps Street, Nanango at 7:30pm tonight. The get-together is open to both spectators and performers, and the $2 entry fee includes supper. Everyone is welcome!
Friday Social Golf - Kingaroy
- The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Everyone is most welcome (including non-members) and green fees are $11 for members or $14 for non-members for the nine holes - but this also includes a card draw for prizes in the clubhouse in the evening (there's also a Jackpot card draw on the last Friday of each month). South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
- The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $35 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items). Blue Light Disco - Murgon
- A junior Blue Light Disco for school children aged 6-14 will be held at the Murgon RSL in Lamb Street, Murgon from 6:30pm to 8:30pm this evening. Tonight's Blue Light will have a "Superhero" theme, and there'll be prizes on offer for the best-dressed super heroes. Admision is $5, which includes a sausage sizzle dinner, and tonight's get-together is being sponsored by Ollies Towing Kingaroy, the Murgon RSL and CROW-FM 90.7. Blue Light Discos are drug, alcohol, chewing gum and tobacco free and no passouts or early exit will be given without parental permission and/or collection.
