Clean Up Australia Day
- Today is Clean Up Australia Day, the one day every year when all Australians are encouraged to put in a few hours helping to clean up a local eyesore (a park, a stretch of road etc) by removing litter and rubbish. You can register a clean-up event in your part of the South Burnett (or find one) by going to the official Clean Up Australia Day website. In Nanango the Nanango Tourism and Development Association will be marking the day with a quarterly clean-up of their "Adopt-A-Spot" - the stretch of the D'Aguilar Highway from Brown Street to the Tarong turn-off - from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon this morning. New helpers are always welcome! And in Murgon, Cr Kathy Duff will be leading a clean-up of the lily ponds area near the CBD. Most of the work will be on the water’s edge, but some will also be undertaken in a boat. The clean-up will start at 8:00am and go for a few hours, depending on how many helpers turn up. In Kingaroy, the Girl Guides are conducting a clean-up of the Pound Street community gardens behind the duck ponds and Senior Citizens Centre near the CBD from 8:30am to around noon this moning. Volunteers are very welcome! There'll also be a clean-up of Memorial Park between 8:00am and 11:00am run by a separate group, and if you'd like to be part of that you should meet at the McDonald's car park at 8:00am. Finally - near Wondai - Arethusa College will be running a clean-up of Ficks Crossing between 10:30am and around 1:30pm if you'd like to get involved there.
Timbertown Woodworkers Group Meeting
- The Timbertown Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today. Rock & Roll Dance Lessons - Nanango

- The weekly Kilkivan Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. Musical Comedy Society Auditions - Kingaroy
- The South Burnett Musical Comedy Society will be holding auditions for their 2015 production "The Pyjama Game" (which will be held in August) at the SBMC's shed at the rear of the South Burnett Enterprise Centre at 6 Cornish Street, Kingaroy this afternoon. Auditions for men will be held from 2:00pm to 3:30pm, and for women from 3:30pm to 5:00pm. Pink Soccer Day - Nanango
- POSTPONED: Girls! Have you ever thought about playing soccer? Do you want to learn more or refresh your skills? Football South Burnett has organised a free “girls only” training day for women and girls aged 12 and over. It will be held at the Nanango Soccer Grounds in Burnett Street south of the CBD from 9:00am this morning. Read more about it on our website.
