Friends Of Cultcha Final Annual Gala Charity Night - Blackbutt

The Friends of Cultcha will be holding their final annual Gala Charity Night at the Blackbutt Memorial Hall from 7:00pm until around 10:00pm this evening. The purpose of the function - which has always been one the major highlights of Blackbutt's annual social calendar - is to celebrate the group's fourteenth year of successful exhibitions. As usual, tonight's gathering will feature works by all the artists who've exhibited at the Archie Muir Centre over the last 12 months; live entertainment from Fred Troughton; and the presentation of the Friends Of Cultcha Annual Donations to the community. The usual great opening night food and refreshments will also be served. However, tonight's get together is also the final Gala Charity Night that Cultcha will ever hold after the group's recent decision that they'd achieved their aims and it was time to call it a day, so it will also be a get-together for all past Friends Of Cultcha fans too. And to mark it, both the raffle prize and the lucky door prize will be 2 nights accommodation at the Landmark Resort in Mooloolaba. Friday Social Golf - Kingaroy

The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Greet, Meet & Eat - Yarraman

A "Greet, Meet & Eat" social function will be held at St Phillips Anglican Church Hall in Millar Street, Yarraman from 10:00am until around 1:00pm today. The group was formed in May 2012 to provide a safe place where locals from Yaraman, Blackbutt and Cooyar could get together, enjoy each other's company and meet others in a low-cost way, and it's met on the third Friday of each month ever since (except for December and January). Queensland Indigenous Golf Championships - Murgon

The first day of the 7th annual Queensland Indigenous Golf Championships will be held at the Murgon Golf Club on Bunya Highway at Murgon today. This 3-day, 54-hole stroke event is open to both male and female indigenous amateur golfers from anywhere in Australia and is being run under the auspices of Golf Queensland. This year a big field of top golfers will be taking to the field from 8:30am to contest the Men's and Women's events, but there'll also be A, B and C Grade nett divisions, a Junior competition and a Senior competition as well. The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $35 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items). A Murgon Blue Light Disco for primary school age children will be held at the Diggers Room in the Murgon Services Club in Lamb Street, Murgon between 6:30pm and 8:30pm this evening. The $4 admission fee includes a hot dog dinner and there'll be some great prizes to be won as well. Blue Light discos are drug, alcohol and tobacco free and are fully supervised by local police, Apexians, Lions and other volunteers.
