Kumbia Kindy International Women's Day Luncheon
The Kumbia Kindy will be commemorating International Womens Day with a special luncheon at the Kumbia Memorial Hall in Bell Street, Kumbia from 10:30am to 2:30pm today. The IWD luncheon is the Kindy's major fundraiser of the year and guests and this licensed event will be able to enjoy a beautifully catered luncheon for just $25, listen to stories of three truly inspiring women, and relax and be entertained by music from Sing Australia, markets, multi-draw raffles and a lucky door prize. You're also welcome to come dressed in purple to add to the spirit of the day. Today's speakers include well-known South Burnett author and humourist Alice Greenup, who'll be acting as the luncheon's emcee; Ann Lewis, a Toowoomba woman who joined the Queensland Police and rose to become Assistant Police Commissioner between 2007 and 2012; Pat Hobdell, a Kumbia local who received a South Burnett 2013 Australia Day Local Achiever Award for her extensive community involvements; and Skye Curtain, a fifth generation farmer's daughter who took up a career reporting for ABC Radio before meeting husband Tom, and who now runs a highly successful horse breaking and training business in Queensland and the Northern Territory. Tickets to the luncheon can be obtained from Lenihans Butchery in Kumbia; Options Gifts in Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy; or by phoning Gayle on (07) 4164-4175 or emailing her. For catering purposes, though, an RSVP by March 7th would be greatly appreciated. PS: This is the Kindy's second IWD luncheon. Last year's was a great success, and you can read more about what it was like on our website.

Last year the Gathering attracted in excess of 200 people with virtually zero publicity and organisers are hoping for an even bigger crowd this year. The Festival itself is completely free to attend and there's also free camping available around the hotel if you want to stay overnight. Lots of great food will be available too but no BYO is allowed - you'll need to get your supplies from the Maidenwell Hotel if you want to party hard. More details? Contact the hotel on (07) 4164-6133
