2025 Proston Show

The main day of the 67th annual Proston Show will be held at Proston Showgrounds at 41 Proston-Boondooma Road, just west of town, from 6:00am this morning (when the gates open) through until late tonight. All-day amusement rides are just $10! There'll be also the usual show day attractions, including sideshow alley, kids' activities, whipcracking, woodchopping, chainsaw races and the popular dog high-jumping competition at 4:00pm! Ring and stud cattle judging will begin at 8:00am with prime cattle from 9:00am. The championship dog show - which is always big - will start at 8:30am. The official opening, by Colin Boyce MP will be at 1:30pm, followed by the Grand Parade. A licensed bar and canteen will be open all day. The fireworks display at night will be followed by live music by Kerry Kennedy and his band playing through the night. Admission prices are $15 for adults and $5 for high school students (under 12s are free) or $35 for a family pass. You can get the full 2025 Show Schedule online
Dinner Under The Stars - Kingaroy
POSTPONED to March 22 The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be hosting their annual Dinner Under The Stars from 3:00pm until late tonight. The event is a fundraiser for the LifeFlight Foundation. Guests can enjoy a fun night out that will include a two-course camp oven-style dinner catered by The Baitlayers, a licensed bar, live music from Amos, Natalie Fenton and Paul Ricketts. There'll also be games for the kids, a sponsors' auction and raffles. Tickets are $45 per head, $20 for young people aged 5-11 or for entertainment only (under 5s are free). Tickets can be obtained from Kingaroy Office Central by phoning (07) 4162-1941, or purchased online. Note: If you're attending please BYO chairs, a blanket or a small table.
International Women's Day - Nanango
CANCELLED Nanango QCWA will be hosting an International Women's Day morning tea from 9:30am today at their clubrooms in Fitzroy Street (opposite IGA). There will be guest speakers and games plus the opportunity to craft roses (kits are $2 each). Cost for the day is $10 but bookings are necessary. Phone 0408-624-116.
Art Gallery Opening - Kingaroy
POSTPONED to March 14 Kingaroy Art Gallery is featuring works by renowned Kingaroy artist, the late David Bryce, this month as a prelude to next year's Rural Art Awards. Works by paper tole expert Rosemarie Matthews-Frederick will be in the main gallery. The official opening will be held from 5:00pm tonight with a cocktail evening at the gallery in Haly Street (opposite the peanut silos). Entry is free and everyone is welcome!
The HerKind Gala Ball - Kingaroy
The HerKind Project will be celebrating International Women’s Day with a gala ball and dinner at Kingaroy Town Hall from 5:30pm tonight. There'll be live entertainment by RYZA plus keynote speaker Julie Cross. Cost is $150 per person. More information is available online

Yarraman Country Markets
The new Yarraman Country Markets will be on from 8:00am to noon this morning at Yarraman Memorial Hall in Browne Street, Yarraman. The markets - which include a fruit and vege stall - are held on the second Saturday of every month. Phone Joe 0459-638-282 to book a stall.
Junior Tennis - Blackbutt
CANCELLED The Blackbutt Tennis Club at 61 Hart Street, Blackbutt (just up the road from the Radnor Hotel) is running a special four-week program for junior players aged 5-15. Cost is $5 per week.
Wooroolin Community Markets
The Wooroolin Community Markets will be held inside the Wooroolin QCWA Rooms on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin from 6:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. The markets offer stalls, a sausage sizzle, fresh produce, plants and crafts and are run on the 2nd Saturday of every month except January. Wooroolin Line Dancers
The Wooroolin Line Dancers will be holding line dancing classes for beginners and intermediate dancers at Wooroolin Hall on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin from 9:00am to 10:00am this morning (for beginners) and 10:00am to 12:30pm (intermediate). Course fees are $10 for intermediate (morning tea included) or $5 for beginners. BYO mug. Everyone is welcome.
Art Kids On Tour - Wondai
Brisbane's Queensland Gallery Of Modern Art will be running a Kids On Tour arts activity workshop for children at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery, on the roundabout at Wondai, from 10:00am until noon this morning. Pasture Die Back Workshop - Upper Yarraman

Round 1 of the South Burnett Senior Cricket competition's finals series will be played today. Games start at 12:30pm: Wondai Wolves v Nanango Scorpions at Wondai Sports Ground; and Wooroolin Warriors v Murgon Diggers at Lyle Vidler Oval, Kingaroy.
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be holding their regular Saturday morning meeting at the old Motor Pool building off Geoff Raph Drive at Kingaroy Airport from 8:00am to around noon today. The group meet every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday morning and new members and visitors are always welcome.
Nanango Men's Shed

Come & Try Dragon Boating - BP Dam
CANCELLED The Barambah Dragons dragon boat club invites people to try out the ancient Chinese sport of dragon boat racing at Bjelke-Petersen Dam from 9:00am (for a 9:30am paddle-off) on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Paddles and gear will be supplied but participants should wear closed shoes that can tolerate getting wet and bring along sunscreen, water, a towel and warm clothes for afterwards. The event is free and will be followed by a gold coin donation sausage sizzle. Everyone is welcome! NB. Check the club's Facebook page as times could change due to the weather.

Inverlaw Hall Dance
CANCELLED A dance will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late this evening. Music will be supplied from CDs and there'll be the usual supper and novelty dances, along with a raffle. Admission fees are $10.00 for adults and $5 for high school students and everyone is welcome!
