101st Annual Murgon Show

The main day of the 101st annual Murgon Show will be held at the Murgon Showgrounds in Macalister Street from 7:00am this morning (when the gates open) through until it finishes with a bang late tonight. This year's Show features horse events in the arena, cattle judging, poultry and a dog show. There'll also be a big Sideshow Alley; and lots and lots of pavilion and trade exhibits (open from 8:00am). The Murgon Show will be officially opened about noon in front of the grandstand, followed by the Grand Parade. Other things to look out for this year include a Fashion Parade, a Farm Animal Nursery and a Stockman's Challenge in the main arena from 2:00pm. And, of course, the Rodeo is back on Saturday night this year, starting at 4:00pm! During a break in the rodeo, there'll also be Fireworks that will light up the sky at about 7:00pm and an auction. Admission to this year's Show is $15 for adults; $10 for concessions and students aged 10 to 17 (U10s are free); or $45 for a family (2 adults plus 2 children). More details? Tanduringie State School P&C Bull Ride - Maidenwell
The Tanduringie State School P&C Bull Ride will be running this afternoon and evening at the Maidenwell Sports Grounds - an important annual fundraiser for the Tanduringie State School P&C. Gates will open at 4:00pm and the event will run to approximately 9:00pm tonight.
Nanango Handmade Markets
Nanango craftspeople will be holding a boutique handmade market from 9:00am to 2:00pm today in the grounds of historic Ringsfield House, 41-45 Alfred Street, Nanango. Back To Nanango Reunion
The annual Back To Nanango reunion for past and present Nanango residents, sponsored this year by the Nanango Tourism and Development Association, will be held at Ringsfield House at 41-45 Alfred Street, Nanango from 9:30am until around 2:30pm today. The Nanango History Room (located in Ringsfield's grounds) will be open to display historical items and there will also be food and drinks available to purchase. Visitors will also be able to wander through the Nanango Handmade Markets which will also be happening in the grounds! Livin' Live Music Festival - Nanango
The Commercial Hotel at 69 Drayton Street in Nanango will be hosting their a Livin' Live Music Festival - this time with a country flavour - from 2:30pm through until late tonight. The event will feature local South Burnett musicians Paul Ricketts and Amber Goldsmith supporting Tamworth artists Vanessa Sanger and Lance Friend. The Nanango Line Dancers will also be in action. Hospital Auxiliary Trivia Night - Wondai
Wondai Hospital Auxiliary will be running a Trivia Night with a St Patrick's Day theme at Wondai's Diggers Club in Mackenzie Street from 7:00pm this evening. Play will take place in tables of six and playing fees are $10 per person. Kingaroy Speedway
The South Burnett Speedway will be back in action at the Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy, tonight with Modlites, AMCA, Modified Sedans, Production Sedans, National 4s and Lightning Sprints. There'll be canteen facilities operating onsite, and campsites are available in the Showgrounds if you want to stay over. Gates will open at 2:00pm, racing will start at 4:00pm and the excitement will continue until around 10:30pm tonight. Admission is $30 for adults, $20 for students (with ID) and aged or disability pensioners or $85 for a family of two adults and two students (children 12 and under are free). Everyone is welcome!
Murgon Music Jam
A free music jam for everyone - with talent or not! - will be held from 2:00pm to 5:00pm today at the Uniting Church Hall, 55 Gore Street, Murgon. The free afternoon for music lovers is held on the third Saturday of every month. More info? Phone Doug on 0466-974-483.
Centenary Peanut Harvest Week Golf - Kingaroy
Today is the last day of the Kingaroy Golf Club's big week of golfing events from March 10 to March 15. Today there'll be a Single Stableford ($30 per person) which includes a barbecue lunch; 11:00am for an 11:30am shotgun start. There's also titleist fitting and a demo day. Junior Tennis - Blackbutt
The Blackbutt Tennis Club at 61 Hart Street, Blackbutt (just up the road from the Radnor Hotel) is running a special four-week program for junior players aged 5-15. Cost is $5 per week.
Rugby League Trial Match - Blackbutt
UPDATED A trial match between the Blackbutt-Yarraman Timbertowners and the Kingaroy Red Ants will be played from 2:30pm this afternoon at Bunny Pearce Oval, 24 Railway Street, Blackbutt. There'll be hot food and cold drinks for sale at the canteen!
Movie Night - Kingaroy
The Australian Breastfeeding Association will be hosting a fundraising movie night from 6:00pm tonight at the Kingaroy Cinema, 4 Short Street. Cost is $25 which includes pizza and dessert before the movie. On screen will be "Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy:. Tickets can be booked online
Kingaroy Friendship Markets
The third Saturday of the month Friendship Markets will be held at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 7:00am to around noon today. The markets feature a range of arts, crafts, food stalls, fruit and garden stalls, plus unusual bric-a-brac. New stallholders are always very welcome.
Proston Community Markets
The monthly Proston Community Markets - organised by the Proston QCWA will be running outside the QCWA Rooms at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston from 7:00am to around noon this morning. The markets are held on the 3rd Saturday of every month on behalf of the Proston Show Society. Stalls feature everything from craftwork to baked goods and bric-a-brac are are always fun to browse. Moore Hall Markets
The monthly Moore Markets will be held in the Moore Soldiers Memorial Hall off the D'Aguilar Highway in Moore from 7:00am to around 12:00 noon today. The markets are held on the 3rd Saturday of every month and feature crafts, toys, bric-a-brac, clothes and collectibles. Food and drinks will also be available for sale. Everyone is welcome!
Wooroolin Line Dancers
The Wooroolin Line Dancers will be holding line dancing classes for beginners and intermediate dancers at Wooroolin Hall on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin from 9:00am to 10:00am this morning (for beginners) and 10:00am to 12:30pm (intermediate). Course fees are $10 for intermediate (morning tea included) or $5 for beginners. BYO mug. Everyone is welcome.
Saturday Cricket
Round 2 of the South Burnett Senior Cricket competition's finals series will be played today. The Preliminary Final between Wondai Wolves and Wooroolin Warriors will be played at the Wondai Cricket Ground from 12:30pm.
Saturday Night Bingo - Kingaroy

St Paddy's Weekend Celebrations - Linville
Linville Hotel, at 34 George Street, is turning green this weekend for St Patrick's Day! There'll be Guinness and Kilkenny on tap, Jameson, Irish Magners Cider and Irish menu items. Live music will kick off at 11:00am today and continue through to 8:00pm. Entertainers include Pete Black followed by Mooncoin from 5:00pm. Saturday Library Day - Maidenwell
The volunteers from the Maidenwell QCWA will be supervising the regular weekly Saturday Library Day (featuring books loaned from Kingaroy Library) from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon. A library day is held in the Maidenwell Hall in Pool Street every Wednesday and Saturday.
Amos Pellas - Kingaroy

The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. CANCELLED Kingaroy senior men’s teams will be in action tonight at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy, their first home game for the 2025 season. In Division 1, Kingaroy will be taking on USQ at 5:00pm; followed by Division 2, Kingaroy v Dalby at 7:00pm. The canteen will be open with tasty snacks and dinner options, so everyone is invited to come along and cheer on the local players!
