2025 Goomeri Show

The 85th annual Goomeri Show will be held at the Goomeri Showgrounds in Laird Street, Goomeri from 8:00am this morning until late tonight. This year's Show will feature a Dog Show (from 8:00am); equestrian events (from 8:00am); stud beef judging (from 8:30am); the Owen Alford Memorial Truck Show (from 9:00am, with judging at 11:00am); heavy horses (from 9:30am); post-ripping and chainsaws (at 11:00am and 3:00pm); plus antique machinery and a car display all day. There'll be free face-painting for the kids from 11:00am to 3:00pm and unlimited amusement rides from 10:00am to 8:00pm for $20. At 1:00pm, there'll be a chance to meet Frank and "Annie" from the ABC-TV show "Muster Dogs". The official opening of the show will be at 2:30pm in the Phyllis Hopf Arena. In the evening, Frank and "Annie" will be back for a demonstration at 5:30pm, followed by the Waterfall Feedlot Stockman's Challenge about 6:30pm and Fireworks at 8:00pm. Live music from band 2Ezy will continue into the night. Visitors can also inspect this year's pavilion entries or relax at the Show's bar and canteen. Admission to this year's Show is just $10 for adults, $5 for young people aged 12-17 (under 12s are free) or $30 for a family (2 adults and 2 children). Dinner Under The Stars - Kingaroy
RESCHEDULED from March 8 The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be hosting their annual Dinner Under The Stars from 3:00pm until late tonight. The event is a fundraiser for the LifeFlight Foundation. Guests can enjoy a fun night out that will include a two-course camp oven-style dinner catered by The Baitlayers, a licensed bar, live music from Amos, Natalie Fenton and Paul Ricketts. There'll also be games for the kids, a sponsors' auction and raffles. Tickets are $45 per head, $20 for young people aged 5-11 or for entertainment only (under 5s are free). Tickets can be obtained from Kingaroy Office Central by phoning (07) 4162-1941, or purchased online. Note: If you're attending please BYO chairs, a blanket or a small table.
Kingaroy Heritage Museum Centenary
The Kingaroy Heritage Museum is today marking the centenary of the switching on of electricity in Kingaroy in 1925. The museum is located in the former Kingaroy Electric Authority building opposite the peanut silos in Haly Street. It will be open from 9:00am to 1:00pm with volunteers on hand to answer questions about the displays and Kingaroy's history. There'll also be a sausage sizzle, craft and produce stalls and a coffee van. NB. Edward Street will be closed to traffic between 7:30am and 1:30pm.

Kingaroy Soccer
Kingaroy senior men’s teams will be in action tonight at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy, their first home game for the 2025 season (after last week's games were cancelled). In Division 2, Kingaroy will be taking on Highfields at 5:00pm; followed by Division 1, Kingaroy v Chinchilla Bears at 7:00pm. The canteen will be open with tasty snacks and dinner options, so everyone is invited to come along and cheer on the local players!
Girls Night Out - Kingaroy

Proston Golden Spurs Campdraft
Day 2 of the three-day Proston Golden Spurs Campdraft will kick off at the Proston Showgrounds on the Proston-Boondooma Road, west of the CBD, at 6:00am this morning. Nanango Scorpions will be taking on the Wooroolin Warriors in the Grand Final of the South Burnett Senior Cricket competition from 12:30pm at the Alan Downie Sports Fields in Burnett Street, Nanango.
Wooroolin Line Dancers
The Wooroolin Line Dancers will be holding line dancing classes for beginners and intermediate dancers at Wooroolin Hall on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin from 9:00am to 10:00am this morning (for beginners) and 10:00am to 12:30pm (intermediate). Wondai Country Markets
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's monthly Wondai Country Markets will be operating at Coronation Park in Wondai's CBD from 7:00am to 12:00 noon this morning. The markets feature stallholders selling fresh fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans. The BBQs will also be firing up from around 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts for early bargain hunters. New stallholders are always very welcome (stall fees range from $10 with power and water available, if needed), and you can obtain more details by phoning the Wondai Regional Art Gallery on (07) 4168-5926.
Come & Try Dragon Boating - BP Dam
The Barambah Dragons dragon boat club invites people to try out the ancient Chinese sport of dragon boat racing at Bjelke-Petersen Dam from 9:00am (for a 9:30am paddle-off) on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Paddles and gear will be supplied but participants should wear closed shoes that can tolerate getting wet and bring along sunscreen, water, a towel and warm clothes for afterwards. The event is free and will be followed by a gold coin donation sausage sizzle. Everyone is welcome! NB. Check the club's Facebook page as times could change due to the weather.
