South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Camerata Concert - Kingaroy
Camerata (aka Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra) has a special one-night only performance at Kingaroy Town Hall from 7:00pm tonight. The 17-piece orchestra will be presenting works by Tchaikovsky, Ravel, Bloch and more. Tickets for the 90-minute concert are $25 adults, $15 concession or $10 students / children and can be booked online (scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Kingaroy City Hall”).
Time Capsule Opening - Wooroolin
Wooroolin State School will be opening a 25-year-old time capsule at the school during a celebration at the school today. The event will run from 9:00am to noon, and there'll be displays and light refreshments available. Former students - especially those from the year 2000! - are invited to come along, reminisce and celebrate 25 years of memories. Please RSVP to the P&C before May 27 by email
Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets, but they'll be operating in a COVID Safe way. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and attract up to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Ringsfield House Open Day - Nanango
Historic Ringsfield House, 41-45 Alfred Street, Nanango, is hosting an Open Day today! Local artists will be featured in the art gallery from 9:00am to 12:30pm, plus tea and scones will be available on the verandah for $10.00 per person from 9:00am to 11:00am. There'll also be live music by Shayla Piano in the gallery from 9:00am to 11:30am.
Are You Bogged Mate? - Kingaroy
Kingaroy Men's Shed will be hosting an "Are You Bogged Mate?" morning from 9:00am this morning with guest speaker Mary O'Brien at their premises in Geoff Raph Drive, near Kingaroy Airport. Are You Bogged Mate? encourages country men and women to talk about mental health and raise awareness about depression. Morning tea will be provided. Donations of $5 will be donated to Angel Flight.
David Lynch Jr - Kingaroy
Popular South Burnett entertainer David Lynch Jnr will be performing at the Kingaroy Hotel-Motel at the corner of Youngman and Haly Streets, Kingaroy from 7:00pm until late tonight. More details? Phone the hotel on (07) 4162-1677.
Pig On The Spit Night - Wooroolin
The Grand Hotel on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin will be holding their monthly Pig On A Spit Night from 5:30pm until late this evening. Apart from a great roast pork meal there'll also be a Lucky Door prize, raffles and entertainment. Tickets are $32.50 for adults, $21 for pensioners, $16 for high school students and $10 for primary school children (U5s are free). Everyone is welcome, but to help plan the catering a booking is always appreciated. You can make one by phoning the Grand on (07) 4164-2261.
Saturday Library Day - Maidenwell
The volunteers from the Maidenwell QCWA will be supervising the regular weekly Saturday Library Day (featuring books loaned from Kingaroy Library) from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon. A library day is held in the Maidenwell Hall in Pool Street every Wednesday and Saturday.
Cent Auction - Kingaroy
A charity cent auction will be held from 1:00pm this afternoon (doors open at noon) at the Anglican Church Hall in Alford Street, Kingaroy (opposite the police station). Entry is free and tickets are $2 per sheet. There's also a large multi-draw raffle. There'll be a free afternoon tea and all funds raised will go towards the repainting of St Andrews Church at Wooroolin.
Booie Hall Dance
An old-time dance will be held at the historic Booie Hall, 1867 Booie Road, from 7:00pm until late tonight. Music will be supplied by Max and Thel from the Silver Comets dance band, and there'll be the usual great supper plus tea, coffee and a raffle. Admission is just $12.50 per person and free camping is available. Monies raised will go to BlazeAid to help farmers affected by the recent floods. Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy a great night! PS. When you see Glady, wish her a happy 70th wedding anniversary!
Saturday Night Bingo - Kingaroy

Wheelchair Basketball - Murgon
South Burnett Wheelchair Basketball will be played today from 10:00am to noon at the South Burnett PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon. All equipment is provided but participants must wear enclosed shoes and bring a water bottle. Wheelchair basketball is an all-abilities game and everyone is invited to come along and have a go!
Murgon RSL Sub-Branch Meeting

Saturday Rugby League
At Blackbutt, junior games for Under 6s through to Under 12s will be played,with games starting at 8:00am. At 10:30am, Nanango will take on Murgon in Under 14sm followed at 11:30am by South Burnett Eagles v Wattles Warriors in Under 15s (NB. This game was originally scheduled to be played in Murgon). NB. No A Grade games will be played due to 47th Battalion duties in Bundaberg this weekend.
Pete Black - Linville
Entertainer Pete Black will be performing at the Linville Hotel in George Street, Linville from 4:00pm until late tonight. The hotel's kitchen will also be operating from 11:00am for lunch, dinner and snacks and there's free camping across the road or paid accommodation at the pub if you want to stay overnight.
