South Burnett Community Orchestra Concert - Kingaroy

The South Burnett Community Orchestra will be holding its mid-year concert at the Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy tonight. The orchestra will be presenting a selection of music from all over the world: from Rome to Finland, from America to Hungary. Doors open at 6:30pm and the concert will start at 7:00pm. Admission is $20 for adults and $10 for primary school children and tickets can be booked online or purchased at the door. Tonight's concert will be raising funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Pre-order a supper box (by June 10) to enjoy at interval. Drinks will also be available for purchase.
Yarraman Show N Shine
The annual Yarraman Show N Shine will be held at Errol Munt Sportsgrounds on the New England Highway from 10:00am today (registrations start at 8:00am). This hugely popular show always features a large range of cars, motorcycles and trucks in pristine condition. Camping is also available in the grounds from Friday to Sunday for $10 per site, and can be booked by phoning Leanne on 0422-137-089.
Patriots Steel Horse Rally - Yarraman
The Patriots Australia Military Motorcycle Club will be holding its 2025 Rally at the Yarraman Horse Sports grounds on the New England Highway from 3:00pm to late this afternoon. There'll be a motorbike show'n'shine with trophies, food, a licensed bar and live music. This "after party" to the Yarraman Show'n'Shine is a fundraiser for Wounded Heroes Australia and all bike riders are welcome!
Saturday Library Day - Maidenwell
The volunteers from the Maidenwell QCWA will be supervising the regular weekly Saturday Library Day (featuring books loaned from Kingaroy Library) from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon. A library day is held in the Maidenwell Hall in Pool Street every Wednesday and Saturday.
Wooroolin Community Markets
Wooroolin Markets are held on the second Saturday of every month (except January) from 6:00am to noon in the area around the QCWA building, beside the highway. There's arts and crafts plus plants and produce, and new stallholders are always welcome! More info? Phone Janice on 0457-143-729.
Swan Lake Screening - Nanango
A free screening of Ballet Preljocaj's performance of the ballet Swan Lake - with music performed by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra - will be at the Nanango Cultural Centre, in Drayton Street, 6:00pm this evening (doors open at 5:00pm). France’s leading contemporary ballet company reimagines Tchaikovsky’s timeless tale of love and betrayal into a modern-day tragedy. Ballet Preljocaj is known for its bold reimagining of classic ballet stories, dramatic choreography, and spectacular design. A special bonus this evening will be performances by the young stars from the La Crème Dance Academy who will be showcasing their talents from 5:15pm.The Nanango QCWA will have light supper available to pre-purchase (select "Light Supper Free Admission" when booking.) Saturday Movie Madness - Kingaroy
South Burnett Libraries will be screening "Despicable Me 4" for kids from 9:30am this morning at the Kingaroy Library in Glendon Street. BYO pillow and snacks!
Comedy Trivia Night - Kingaroy
St Mary's Catholic College P&F is hosting an adults-only comedy trivia night from 7:30pm at the Maryknoll Centre (in the College grounds) as a fundraiser towards sending players to the Queensland Independent Secondary Schools Netball (QISSN) carnival. Theme is "Raise Funds, Lower Expectations". There'll be raffles, games, prizes, food and a bar. Tickets and tables can be booked online
Rugby League - Cherbourg & Nanango
Junior rugby league games from Under 6s through to Under 12s will be played at Cherbourg today, with games starting at 8:00am. Two A Grade games will also be played: at 3:30pm, Cherbourg v Kingaroy; and at 5:00pm, Wondai v Murgon. At Nanango's Fred Kassulke Oval, two Under 14 games will be played: at 11:00am, Kingaroy v Nanango; and at noon, Chinchilla v Murgon.
Free Garden Mulch - Kingaroy & Wondai
South Burnett Regional Council has free garden mulch available today and tomorrow for collection. Bring your trailer or ute to the end of Stehbens Street, Kingaroy; or the end of Scott Street, Wondai the (old tip) from 8:00am to 2:00pm. Council provided a kerbside collection of tree limbs and debris after the storms that hit Wondai and Kingaroy in January, this has now been mulched and chipped.
Australian Rules - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Saints' three teams will be taking on teams from University Cougars today at Lyle Vidler Oval, Youngman Street, Kingaroy. At 11:30am, the Under 13.5s will be in action, followed by the women at 1:00pm and the men at 2:30pm. Spectators are invited to come along to support the home teams in action!
David Lynch Jnr - Linville
Entertainer David Lynch Jr will be performing at the Linville Hotel in George Street, Linville from 4:00pm until late tonight. The hotel's kitchen will also be operating from 11:00am for lunch, dinner and snacks and there's free camping across the road or paid accommodation at the pub if you want to stay overnight. Dance - Inverlaw Hall
A dance will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late this evening. Music will be supplied by Shades Of Country and there'll be the usual supper and novelty dances, along with a Lucky Door draw and a raffle. The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. Come & Try Dragon Boating - BP Dam
The Barambah Dragons dragon boat club invites people to try out the ancient Chinese sport of dragon boat racing at Bjelke-Petersen Dam from 9:00am (for a 9:30am paddle-off) on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Paddles and gear will be supplied but participants should wear closed shoes that can tolerate getting wet and bring along sunscreen, water, a towel and warm clothes for afterwards. The event is free and will be followed by a gold coin donation sausage sizzle. Everyone is welcome! NB. Check the club's Facebook page as times could change due to the weather.
