2025 Wondai Country Running Festival

The first day of the weekend-long, family friendly Wondai Country Running Festival will be held in and around Wondai's CBD and along the South Burnett Rail Trail today. The festival will kick off early at 7:00am and will incorporate a bumper Wondai markets (see below), several Fun Runs/Walks, and two McEuen Forest Trail Runs this afternoon. There'll also be a full day of live music in Coronation Park, capped off by a licensed Wondai Country Running Festival Dinner at Wondai Town Hall in Mackenzie Street that will get under way around 5:45pm tonight. Tomorrow the Festival will conclude with a 10km Rail Trail run, a half marathon and a gruelling full 42km marathon along the South Burnett Rail Trail. You can get the complete program on our website.
Alwyn Litzow's Bowls Day - Wondai
A fundraising Bowls Day for the South Burnett Rugby League will be held from 11:00am today at the Wondai Country Club. Cost is $25 per person, which includes a hamburger lunch. There'll also be a money board and raffle. Wondai Country Markets
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's monthly Wondai Country Markets will be operating at Coronation Park in Wondai's CBD from 7:00am to 12:00 noon this morning. The markets feature stallholders selling fresh fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans. Today's event will also feature a special Art In The Park with artists Sue Warry (drop into the gallery to find out more) as well as a petting zoo for children. New stallholders are always very welcome (stall fees range from $10 with power and water available, if needed), and you can obtain more details by phoning the Wondai Regional Art Gallery on (07) 4168-5926.
Camp Oven Under The Stars - Kingaroy
Hillview Cottages at 297 Birt Road in Kingaroy will be holding a Camp Oven Dinner Under The Stars from 6:00pm to 10:00pm tonight. The three course dinner will be prepared by award-winning camp oven cooks The Bait Layers, and Moffatdale Ridge Winery will be providing wines and selected beers at the bar. Experience a unique astronomer-guided tour of the galaxy though large telescopes. There are a limited number of tickets available at $110, which can be booked online. More info? Clay Target Shoot - Kingaroy
Today is Day 1 of the Kingaroy Clay Target Club's annual two-day shoot at its range in Aerodrome Road, Kingaroy. There's a $17,000 prize pool up for grabs. Nominations for the two days are $170 (or $135 if competing in the Lady, Junior or Veterans events). Powered camping on-site is available for $10. Dinner will be available to purchase tonight as well as breakfast and lunch today and tomorrow.
Police Engraving Day - Kilkivan
Kilkivan Neighbourhood Watch and Gympie Police will be holding an engraving event today to help local residents protect their property. The home security event will be held at the Liberty Service Station, 17 Crescent Street, from 8:00am to 2:00pm. Residents have been invited to bring along any items they wish to engrave, including bicycles, tools, trailers, welders, tool boxes, chainsaws, ride-on mowers, audio and stereo equipment or computers/laptops. Tools will available so people can engrave their own property with a unique personal code.
Rugby League - Murgon
Five rugby league games will be played at Murgon Showgrounds today, including an Under 19s game from the TJRL competition: At 10:00am, Chinchilla will take on Kingaroy in U14s, followed by another U14s game, between Murgon and Nanango, at 11:00am. At noon, the South Burnett Eagles will face Toowoomba Brothers in an U19s clash. Two A Grade games will be played: at 1:30pm, Cherbourg v Wondai; and at 3:00pm, Murgon v Kingaroy

Deal'n & DJ BRZ43 - Kingaroy
Deal'n will be back playing live in the beer garden at the Commercial Hotel, on the corner of Glendon and Haly Streets, Kingaroy, from 7:30pm tonight; while DJ BRZ43 will be spinning in the Sports Bar from 8:00pm. Saturday Library Day - Maidenwell
The volunteers from the Maidenwell QCWA will be supervising the regular weekly Saturday Library Day (featuring books loaned from Kingaroy Library) from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon. A library day is held in the Maidenwell Hall in Pool Street every Wednesday and Saturday.
Come & Try Dragon Boating - BP Dam
The Barambah Dragons dragon boat club invites people to try out the ancient Chinese sport of dragon boat racing at Bjelke-Petersen Dam from 9:00am (for a 9:30am paddle-off) on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Paddles and gear will be supplied but participants should wear closed shoes that can tolerate getting wet and bring along sunscreen, water, a towel and warm clothes for afterwards. The event is free and will be followed by a gold coin donation sausage sizzle. Everyone is welcome! NB. Check the club's Facebook page as times could change due to the weather.
Churchyard Op Shop Markets - Nanango
The Anglican Churchyard Op Shop, at the corner of Drayton and Burnett Streets in Nanango, will be open from 7:30am to around 11:30am today. There'll be stalls selling plants, craftwork, books, bric-a-brac and lots more, as well as a $3 sausage sizzle and tea and coffee for a gold coin donation. Pig On The Spit Night - Maidenwell
The Maidenwell Hotel's popular monthly Pig On A Spit Night will be running from 6:00pm until late this evening with live music by Mr Q from 7:00pm to late. Guests can get stuck into more pork than they can poke a fork at, all served up with with roast potatoes, pumpkin, corn, peas, carrots and gravy.
