2012 Kingaroy Show
- The second (and final) day of the weekend-long 2012 Kingaroy Show will be held at Kingaroy Showgrounds from 7:30am this morning through until late tonight. The Kingaroy Show is the biggest agricultural show in the South Burnett and this year's 105th Show could be the biggest ever. Most of today's major events will be held in the main Show Ring but there'll also be a wide range of pavilion exhibits on display too and (as always!) a very big Sideshow Alley. Special things to look out for at this year's Kingaroy Show include a Truck Shown & Shine; a Ute Muster; the ever-popular Woodchops; wagon rides; vintage car and tractor displays; a Freestyle Motorcycling display; a Reptile Display; and much, much more. Everything will be capped off by the Show's traditional South Burnett Speedway meeting from 5:00pm onwards. Tickets to the 2012 Show are $30 per family (2 adults and 2 children), $10 for adults or $6 for pensioners and high school students (primary school age children can get in for free). There's also free parking available in the grounds too. More info? Phone the Kingaroy Show Society on (07) 4162-5800.

The Show & Shine is open to all types of cars and bikes and trophies will be presented to the winners around 1:00pm. Swap sites, meanwhile, will be offering all sorts of automotive-related trash and treasure. South Burnett Speedway - Kingaroy
- The South Burnett Speedway will be roaring into action at the Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy at 5:00pm this evening with their traditional post-Kingaroy Show meeting. Usually the Kingaroy Show Speedway is a cut-down version of the real thing to give visitors a taste of what the Speedway Club is all about, but tonight's burn-up is a fully-fledged meeting with a really big field of competitors. It will feature contests between Modified Production Cars, Wingless Sprints, Steet Sedans, 4 Cylinder Sedans and Junior Sedans - all in the no-holds-barred, smash-'em-up style of hi-octane thrills and spills racing that makes the South Burnett's Speedway such a crowd-pleaser. As usual, a full bar and canteen facilities will be operating throughout but because it's Show night, admission fees have been slashed by 50% to just $10 for adults, $8 for pensioners and students or $30 for a family pass (2 adults and up to 2 students). Children under 12 can get in for free. Note: Tonight's meeting will be last Speedway until the end of September when the Club's 2012-13 season will get underway.
What's On At The Wineries This Weekend
- The South Burnett's wineries and cellar doors will all be open this weekend if you want to relax in their cafes and/or taste their wines. The South Burnett is now the largest wine region in Queensland and (excluding the Granite Belt) larger than all the State's other wine regions put together. You can find out what our wineries' opening hours are this weekend, the individual facilities that each one offers and news about any special events they might also be running on South Burnett Wine
Vintage Motorcycle Rally - Kumbia
- The Kingaroy branch of the Historic Motorcycle Club of Queensland will be holding a rally at the Kumbia Sportsgrounds this weekend - and spectators who'd like to come along to look at the 60 historic motorcycles that will be taking part are very welcome to do so. Riders will be departing from the Sportsgrounds in groups of three at 9:01am precisely this morning - one group going off on a 180km course around the Bunya Mountains while a second group of older motorcycles undertakes a shorter 128km route. Both groups will return to the Sportsgrounds between 10:30am and 11:00am for a 45-minute smoko, then continue on the second-leg of their two courses before returning for lunch and trophy presentations at 1:00pm. Spectators who’d like to inspect the historic machines can do so at the Sportsgrounds from 8:00am this morning or catch them during the smoko or lunch breaks.
