2012 Kingaroy Show
The first day of the weekend-long 2012 Kingaroy Show will be held at Kingaroy Showgrounds from 8:00am this morning through until late tonight. The Kingaroy Show is the biggest agricultural show in the South Burnett and this year's 105th Show could be the biggest ever. Most of today's major events will be held in the main Show Ring but there'll also be a wide range of pavilion exhibits on display too and (as always!) a very big Sideshow Alley. Special things to look out for at this year's Kingaroy Show include a Truck Show'n'Shine; the Australian Chainsaw Titles; State Of Origin Post Ripping between Queensland and NSW; a Tiny Tots Casual Dress Competition; and a Best Scarecrow Competition for school age children. Other features include a Ute Muster; the ever-popular Woodchops; wagon rides; vintage car and tractor displays; a Freestyle Motorcycling display; a Reptile Display; and much, much more. As usual, there'll also be hotly contested fields in cattle judging; a big range of equestrian events including all-day show jumping; and many other things. The Show's Grand Parade and official opening will be held at around 2:30pm and the Giant Fireworks Display will explode into life at around 8:30pm. Single day tickets to the 2012 Show are $30 per family (2 adults and 2 children), $10 for adults or $6 for pensioners and high school students (primary school age children can get in for free), and two-day passes are also available for a litle extra. There's also free parking available in the grounds too. More info? Phone the Kingaroy Show Society on (07) 4162-5800.

The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and routinely attract 320 to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? The Nanango Theatre Company will be presenting the final performance of their latest production "Rumours" (a Neil Simon farce) at the Nanango Theatre Company Playhouse at the corner of Elk and George Streets, Nanango at 7:00pm this evening (plays begins at 7:30pm sharp). Rumours tells the story of several affluent couples who gather together for a dinner party celebrating their hosts' tenth anniversary. However, they discover there are no servants, the hostess is missing, and the host - the deputy mayor of New York - has shot himself through the earlobe. Comic complications arise when - given everyone's upper class status - they decide they need to do everything possible to conceal the evening's events from the local police and the media. Tonight's show is a wine and cheese night and will continue until around 10:00pm. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and pensioners (or $15 and $10 if you book and pay 7 days in advance). More details and/or bookings?
