Kingaroy detectives have charged a 22-year-old man in relation to the alleged violent robbery of a woman in the Kingaroy Shoppingworld car park on June 30.

About 1:40pm, a 22-year-old woman working as a disability support carer was with her client in the car park.

Police will allege she was approached by a man who grabbed the car keys from her hands, before he tried to steal her vehicle.

The woman approached the man as he entered the driver’s seat but he allegedly tried to close the door, slamming her hands and arms.

The man then allegedly ran from the scene, dropping the car keys.

The woman suffered minor injuries in the incident.

After extensive investigations, police executed a search warrant at a Cherbourg address on Wednesday (July 5) where a 22-year-old man was taken into custody.

Police will allege cannabis and drug utensils were also located at the address.

The man has been charged with robbery with violence, attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing drug utensils.

He was expected to appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on Thursday.
