Kingaroy JCA were victorious in the Stage 3 Grand Final at Lyle Vidler Oval last Saturday

Kingaroy proved too strong for Nanango Scorpions in the South Burnett Cricket Association’s Stage 3 Grand Final, played at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy last Saturday.

Stage 3 is a mixed competition for Under 16 cricketers.

Nanango won the toss and elected to bowl.

All the Kingaroy batters made a start, with Jayden Prendergast (14), Isaac Hauritz (14) and Ledger Comello (13) top-scoring.

For Nanango, Codi Green (1/9), Darcy Cullen (1/13) and Elliot Black (1/17) finished with the best bowling figures.

In reply, Nanango were bowled out for 79.

Angus Elford (30), Josie Black (14) and Mac Smith (7) were the top-scorers.

Kingaroy’s best bowlers were D’arcy Harmsworth (2/5), Hudson Murphy (2/13) and Mason Fuller-Sandys (2/5).

After the match, awards for the season were handed out (see below) with several players from both sides picking up representative awards.

Gympie A Grade

Minor premiers Murgon Crusaders fell short in their Grand Final clash against Gympie Valleys, played in Gympie last Saturday.

At the end of two days of rain-interrupted play, Crusaders were all out for 87 (in 49 overs) while Valleys were 8/106.

Resuming on Saturday, Valleys added just a few more runs, all out for 114.

Crusaders’ second innings started stronger with Lehman Brunjes hitting 22 runs before he was bowled.

Jason Webber (39) and Brenton Polzin (32) were the top scorers, with Riley Sippel adding 11 valuable runs near the tail.

Murgon were all out for 127 in the 25th over.

Valleys finished 5/89 in their second innings.

Murgon’s best bowlers across the two innings were Jake Sippel (4/25 and 2/13) , Riley Sippel (1/13 and 1/8) and Thomas Currin (1/3 and 1/17).

Crusaders lost by five wickets.
