Kingaroy has a new solicitor’s practice following the official launch on Friday night of Rosegold Legal.

The business is located upstairs in the old Harbison’s building (above Chris Cross Hair Studio) at 2/194 Kingaroy Street.

Solicitor Jay Rose specialises in family, civil and criminal law and has lived in the South Burnett for just over two years, although she was a regular visitor more than 20 years ago when she used to visit family in Tingoora.

Over the years she has practised law across Queensland, including Cairns, Townsville, Brisbane and Mt Isa, and has also worked for Indigenous legal aid services.

Jay told southburnett.com.au her special interests were domestic violence law and child protection.

The experienced lawyer decided to set up her independent business in Kingaroy because she had noticed there was an absence of female practitioners.

“My passion and interest lies with women and children,” she said.

“There are a lot of kids out there that need help.”

She will be acting as Duty Lawyer in local Magistrates courts as well as appearing in the Federal Circuit Court in family law matters.

Jay also is applying to be appointed as an independent children’s lawyer to represent children in family law cases.

At the moment, she is looking after the office by herself, but will have another staff member joining her soon.

Colleagues from local law firms and legal services joined Jay on Friday night to celebrate the opening of her business.
