South Burnett Regional Council libraries will scan important personal documents for free until November 30 as part of Get Ready Queensland storm and fire season preparations

The South Burnett Regional Council is offering to scan residents’ important personal documents for free until November 30.

The free scan offer follows the launch of the “Be Prepared – Tips for Community Safety” guide in the region’s towns over the last fortnight.

The free guide, which was fully funded by RACQ Get Ready Queensland, provides advice about how to prepare for the up-coming storm and fire seasons, as well as other natural disasters.

One important message in the guide is that residents should keep a copy of their important personal documents – such as marriage and birth certificates, insurance contracts and similar documents – ready to take with them if they have to evacuate due to an emergency.

The free scanning service will be provided by the Council’s libraries until the end of November.

“As an added incentive, a free USB will be provided to the first 100 people who bring their personal documents in to be scanned,” Mayor Keith Campbell said.
