The shape of the new South Burnett Regional Council is starting to become clearer with the Electoral Commission of Queensland making final declarations for two Divisions on Thursday evening.

The ECQ confirmed at 5:35pm that former Kingaroy Shire Councillor Terry Fleischfresser had won Division 4, defeating Andrew Saal by 1716 votes (53.34pc) to 1501 (46.66pc).

Informal votes were 141 (4.20pc).

In Division 6, the ECQ confirmed at 5:04pm that Cr Ros Heit had been returned, defeating South Burnett Residents Action Group-supported candidate Uwe (Tom) Nowack.

The final vote was Cr Heit 1912 votes (61.32 per cent) to Mr Nowack 1206 votes (38.68pc).

There were 131 informal votes (4.03pc).

Cr Heit told southburnett.com.au that she was “delighted and honoured” to have been re-elected with an increased margin.

“Thank you to my family, friends and supporters who have encouraged me along the way,” she said.

“I’m excited by the next four years and what we can do to make the South Burnett an even greater place to live and work.

“Thank you to the residents of Division 6 who have put their faith in me. I will do my best for this Division and the South Burnett.”

Cr Heit and Mr Fleischfresser will be joining Cr Kathy Duff on the Council benches.

Cr Duff was elected unopposed in Division 5.

Electors are still awaiting results in Division 1, where Roz Frohloff is leading the count; Division 2, where Gavin Jones is ahead on primary votes from Wayne Browning; Division 3 where Danita Potter is ahead; and the all-important Mayoral vote where Deputy Mayor Keith Campbell is in the lead from Cr Damien Tessmann.

Update April 1, 2016: At 2:41pm on Friday afternoon Roz Frohloff was declared as the new Councillor for Division 1. She will replace Cr Barry Green, who chose to go into retirement at this year’s election after serving two terms as the Division’s representative.
