The first of the South Burnett Regional Council’s latest round of “community resilience” days was hosted by the East Nanango Rural Fire Brigade on Saturday.

The Emergency Services Expo included demonstrations by rural and urban firies and timely information about bushfire safety.

There were also giveaways – including emergency kit items – as well as a free barbecue and drinks.

Local residents were invited to drop in and chat to the firefighters, and children had the opportunity to play with fire hoses and test out the trucks’ sirens.

There are two more Emergency Expos scheduled soon:

  • June 8 – at the Ballogie RFB Shed, 12398 Chinchilla-Wondai Road, from 10:00am to 2:00pm
  • June 22 – at the Taromeo RFB shed, Hart Street, Blackbutt. from 10:00am to 2:00pm
