Construction work on three new bridges at Campbells Road, Mondure Road and Weens Road has been progressing, Cr Damien Tessmann told Wednesday’s SBRC meeting.

However recent wet weather had made progress slightly slower than hoped.

Campbells Road bridge at Silverleaf has had its headstocks and abutments formed, reinforced and poured. Deck units are planned to be landed this week.

Mondure Road bridge at Mondure has had its deck units landed and reinforced concrete deck poured. After this, wingwalls will be formed and poured and the abutments backfilled.

Weens Road bridge northwest of Kingaroy has also had its deck units landed and deck poured, and backfilling the road approaches has begun.

Once the approaches are level with the new bridge, Council workers will begin pouring the relieving slabs that will transition drivers from the road to the bridge.

All three bridges are expected to be completed within the next two months.

The Council has also called for tenders to rehabilitate four existing timber bridges at Webbers Road, Manar Road, Stumckes Road and the Horse Gully bridge on the Gayndah Hivesville Road.

The successful tenderer is expected to be announced next month.

The Council will take advantage of last month’s $800,000 Bridges To Recovery grant, which will be used to convert Marshlands Bridge on Silverleaf Road from a single lane wooden bridge to a dual-lane concrete structure, to do some work on the Kings Bridge East bridge north of Nanango as well.

Council will be engaging a geotechnical consultant for the Marshlands Bridge project, but will get them to investigate the Nanango bridge too.

Kings Bridge East is expected to be included in the Council’s 2016-2017 bridge replacement program.
