Gympie Regional Council announced its 2016 Community Australia Day Awards winners on Tuesday at the Gympie Civic Centre.
Winners were:
- 2016 Cultural Award – Bernard Murphy (Cooloola Community Arts)
- 2016 Youth Cultural Award – Yasmin Morris (Gympie country music singer)
- 2016 Youth Sports Award – Matthew Hurrell (Gympie hockey player)
- 2016 Sports Administration Award – Malcolm Bunney (Gympie Touch Association)
- 2016 Community Event of the Year – Gympie Family Fun Night
- 2016 Young Citizen of the Year Award – Jacob Reid (Gympie)
- 2016 Citizen of the Year Award – Robin Yule (Gympie Cooloola Rotary)
