SBRC Manager Water and Waste Water Nerida Airs

Due to an unforeseen issue with the supply of water from the Boondooma pipeline, Kingaroy’s water supply will be sourced from Gordonbrook Dam again for the next few days.

Council Water and Waste Water manager Nerida Airs said Gordonbrook Dam water would be used from Saturday, November 21,  through to at least Tuesday, November 24.

“The quality of water will not be affected but sometimes residents may notice a difference in the taste and smell when the water comes from Gordonbrook Dam rather than Boondooma,” Ms Airs said.

Damage which occurred at the Kingaroy Water Treatment Plant last weekend during a lightning strike when a storm cell moved through the region has already been repaired and the plant is back to normal operation.

However, Ms Airs reminded residents that despite recent rain, Level 2 restrictions still apply across the region.

That means residents are still being asked to be water wise.

Simple steps to save water include:

  • Turning off the tap when brushing teeth, applying shaving cream, or soaping up
  • Only washing clothes or running dishwashers when you have a full load
  • Sweeping paved areas instead of hosing them, and
  • Fixing dripping taps.
