The Stolen Wages Reparation Taskforce will be hosting a community meeting in Cherbourg on Thursday (November 12) to collect feedback and submissions from local residents.

To RSVP for the meeting, which will be held from 10:30am to 12:30pm at the Community Hall, contact Cherbourg Shire Council on (07) 4168-1866.

The closing date for submissions to the Taskforce has been extended to Friday (November 20).

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships Minister Curtis Pitt said the deadline had been extended to hold more community meetings and allow more people to contribute to the important process.

“The taskforce is specifically looking at feedback and ideas from those impacted as to how to create an eligibility assessment criteria to accurately allocate the $21 million fund to people whose wages and savings were controlled by past Queensland Governments under the Protection Acts,” Mr Pitt said.
