Nanango paramedic Roz Frohloff is the latest local resident to put their name forward for election to the South Burnett Regional Council.

Mrs Frohloff will be a candidate for Division 1 at the March 2016 Local Government elections.

Division 1 is currently held by Cr Barry Green who has announced he will not be recontesting the Division.

Mrs Frohloff has been a paramedic for 17 years and has worked all over the South Burnett.

She is “South Burnett born and bred” and believes she has a lot to offer Council, including “young ideas”.

“One of the reasons I have decided to run is because there needs to be some younger people as well on the Council,” she said.

Medical issues are top of her mind … including the need to lobby for improvements at Nanango Hospital.

She is also concerned that the South Burnett Private Hospital must re-open to ease the burden on the Kingaroy Hospital, and that specialists are attracted back to the area.

Mrs Frohloff is also interested in promoting the importance of the rural numbering scheme, which can be a matter of life or death in an emergency situation.

Road maintenance, and bitumening of some unsealed roads, was also important.

She told southburnett.com.au she realised the Nanango streetscaping project had not been popular with all local residents, but she liked it and she hoped in would attract more tourists to stop in town and spend their money.

“I can only see it being a positive thing,” she said.

  2. Congratulations to all of the new nominees for the coming local elections. To use words from a McCall tune “It looks like we’ve got a election” – fresh ideas, fresh start and fresh people.
