Jason Ford ... to stand for Division 4

September 21, 2015

Well-known local chef Jason Ford announced on Monday that he would run for Division 4 in the upcoming South Burnett Regional Council election.

The elections are due to be held in March 2016.

Division 4 – the northern half of Kingaroy – is currently held by Cr Keith Campbell who announced earlier this year that he would be running for Mayor at the next election.

“I’ve contemplated nominating for Council for a while now so with the looming departure of several councillors at the next election, I believe the time is right to put up my hand,” Mr Ford said.

Mr Ford, who works at the Kingaroy TAFE campus, has lived in the South Burnett with his wife Karen and two children for more than 17 years, and is well-known because of his involvement in may community events. He is also a food columnist with local media.

He represented the Palmer United Party in Nanango at the last State election.

“I’m grateful to the region and believe I owe it a debt of gratitude for giving myself and my family an ideal lifestyle,” Mr Ford said.

“The South Burnett has always provided me with a supportive environment to achieve my personal and professional goals.

“Next year, I hope to be given the opportunity to contribute back to the region through local government, and work alongside the South Burnett community to help realise their hopes and aspirations.

“If elected, I would commit to the basic principles of good governance vital to the community. I’d work hard, be flexible, transparent and accountable to the community while planning for the current and future needs of the area.”

He said ratepayers expected their elected officials to provide meaningful engagement, consultation and social inclusion, as an important part of their role.

The elections are due to be held on March 19, 2016.
