A rally driver has been flown to hospital with serious injuries after his vehicle hit a tree during an event near Jimna on Saturday.

The man, aged in his 50s, is believed to have suffered chest and spinal injuries.

The Toowoomba RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was despatched to the Brisbane Sporting Car Club event about 12:30pm.

The man’s injuries were assessed and treated by CareFlight’s Critical Care Doctor and the QAS Flight Intensive Care Paramedic.

He was then flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.
