Have you ever wanted to take better photos? Ever wondered why your camera doesn’t seem to take photos the way you’d like it to? Why your photos are blurry? Too dark or too light?

Or are you just interested in knowing what all those buttons on your digital camera do and how you can take more advantage of them?

If any of these questions describe you, you can find the answers at the Blackbutt Camera Club (BCC).

They will be holding a series of three “Back To Basics” photography workshops for everyone who would like to learn more about their camera and taking better photos.

The workshops will begin this Wednesday, May 6 starting at 5:30pm, but participants are very welcome to arrive from 4:00pm onwards if they wish.

They’ll be held at the Uniting Church Hall in Coulson Street, Blackbutt and are open to everyone (people who aren’t members of the BCC are asked to contribute $5 per evening towards expenses).

The workshops will be as follows:

  • May 6: “Back to Basics” camera functions and maintenance
  • May 20: Photo Composition, taking sharp photos, understanding photographic terms
  • June 3: Downloading images to a computer, file organisation, storage and back-ups, software options and usage

The BCC is a small but friendly group which enjoyed a good deal of success in regional photographic competitions last year.

The club placed second in the South Burnett Photographic Interclub Digitally Projected Image Competition, and won the South Burnett Photographic Interclub Printed Image Competition against fellow camera clubs in Nanango, Kingaroy and Murgon.

Club members would like to share their knowledge through these three fortnightly workshops, so pick up your camera, instruction book and laptop and join us – we’d love to see you!

The Blackbutt Camera Club meets on first and third Wednesdays of each month from 4.00pm to 8.00pm, except for December and January.
