Police believe would-be thieves were after fuel after a number of vehicles were tampered with in the carpark at the South Burnett TAFE College in Geritz Road, Kingaroy, at the weekend.

Several incidents were reported between Friday night and Monday.

Acting Senior Sergeant Brad Johannesen, from Kingaroy police, said fuel caps were opened and a piece of hose was found on the ground.

A brazen thief stole two wallets from a Kingaroy Street home on Friday night while the occupants were at home.

The residents told police they didn’t lock up and were “probably asleep” when the offence occurred sometime during the night.

“This is a good reminder why people should be vigilant – and lock up – even if they are at home, and especially at night,” Acting Senior Sergeant Johannesen said.
